New Project Work
Groundwater Public Supply - Assessment and Development
ASI has recently been awarded a contract with Jefferson County West Virginia to perform a hydrogeologic assessment and to develop four new public supply wells to supplement the public water supply to the West Ridge Hills Subdivision and potentially to the Mountain Water System service area within western Jefferson County. ASI has selected drilling targets, obtained necessary permitting and will be scheduling drilling activity soon.
Corrective Action Plan and Alternate Water Supply Wells
ASI recently developed a corrective action plan that involved developing a strategy for completing new groundwater supply wells as a means for alternate water supply. The project involves several domestic wells that have been impacted by a release of petroleum into the bedrock aquifer. Our workscope included down-well geophysical surveys of select impacted wells to determine the number and orientation of water bearing zones within the wells. The findings from this work were used to better understand the hydrogeology of the site and to select well locations and construction design in an attempt to develop new wells with clean water supply. Four new wells were completed at the site. Water quality sampling and analysis was performed an each well was found to be free of petroleum contamination. Upon receiving approval from the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, each residence was connected to the new alternate water supply wells. Formerly contaminated wells were properly abandoned in accordance with the Virginia Health Department requirements.
